For my Data Project, the topics that I am tracking are “My Time Alone” and “Balancing My Schedule.” I tracked “My Time Alone” on Friday, February 6th and “Balancing My Schedule” from Tuesday, February 3rd to Sunday, February 9th. I tracked all of my data by jotting down everything that I did each hour on the note’s app on my phone, and then at some point during each day, I would open a new google doc on my laptop and update it by putting the new information on to it. What’s been easy is remembering how I felt while doing everything, because my feelings of what I do consistently typically don’t change. However, what was difficult was remembering to jot down my schedule consistently for an entire week. It definitely took a toll on my brain, and to be honest, there were times that I would forget for almost an entire day. However, because I have a sharp memory of what I did, and because I have a routine of whenever I go to class, work, do schoolwork, or exercise, I was able to retain the previous information easily. As far as the results go, A lot of it wasn’t very surprising, I did pretty much what I thought I was going to do, I felt how I thought I was going to feel, and I spent about as much time alone as I anticipated, so a lot of it wasn’t very surprising. However, what was surprising was how easily I was able to remember everything I did throughout the day for days straight without looking at any notes. Everyone knows that consistency is the key to success, but it’s also the key to sharp memory because of how common pattern recognition is. As far as what my routine is, imagine going to school, doing homework, working part time, socializing, going to the gym consistently, all in the same pattern with a bunch of relaxing breaks in between. That’s what my typical day as a college student looks like.
